Growing Amount of Time On Mobile Browsing

Website traffic coming from mobile devices increased 84% from Q4 2011 to Q4 2012. Mobile browsing count for 1 of 4 users in Q4, according to a report from Walker Sands.

Mobile optimization has been identified as the most exciting digital opportunity of this year,” said Gaby Paez, Associated Director of Research, MECLABS. “As marketers, we need to learn as much as possible how consumers of all ages are using their smartphones; how and when they are visiting our websites, checking their emails, etc. More and more people are using their phones instead of laptop or PC to buy online.”

280 Percent YoY Growth in Mobile Marketing

Oslo/Norway – (March 18, 2013) Probably a world-record in year-on-year growth in the Norwegian market for mobile marketing experiencing a 280% growth from Jan/Feb 2012 to 2013. 

Display grow by 5.7 percent to an annual turnover of 197.2 million. Web TV grows by 95.1 percent to 9.5 million. Somewhat surprisingly, perhaps, search experience no growth according to the  Media Agency Association figures with 37.3 million.

For the first time the Media Agency Association clarified the various platforms within the category Internet. Mobile has the largest growth – at 280 percent – and a turnover of 22.9 million in January and February, according to Kampanje.

Google CEO, Jan Grønbech, refutes advertising figures

– What I see, and I’m talking about search in general, is that the Norwegian media agencies a total spend 25.6 percent more on search so far this quarter than the same time last year.

Velti’s ‘State of Mobile Advertising 2012: Year in Review’ report delivers insight into trends in the mobile advertising market during 2012.

International mobile sales and mobile ad impressions continue to grow rapidly, especially in emerging economies, which also show the highest click-through rates (CTR). Among apps, games continue to lead all categories in both popularity and impressions served, though photography is growing quickly.

Berg Insight estimated that mobile ads and marketing comprised a €3.8 billion (U.S. $5 billion) market in 2011, dominated by Google’s AdMob and Apple’s iAd platforms. But Berg is predicting that numbers will grow by a factor of 5 into a €19.7 billion market in 2017. In the UK, the Internet Advertising Bureau UK (IAB) said the sector grew by 132% to £181.5 million in the first half of 2012 to account for 7% of digital ad spend.

This trend is reflected in the activities of the market’s more forward-looking agencies, for example M&C Saatchi’s mobile division (from their trend and Insight report March 2013).
